A.W.D.A March Newsletter 2021
Term 1 finishes on Thursday 9th of April. Term 2 begins on Monday 27th of April and is another long term of 9 weeks for dancing (one week shorter than school as week 10 will be exam rehearsal week). Term 2 prompt payment discounts apply until 2nd of May.
Please note that this year Easter falls at the end of Term, due to Term 1 commencing on the Friday this year there are therefore no make-up lessons due as every class has received the same amount of classes this term.
Missed Classes – try to replace any missed lesson even if it is not possible to attend one at the same level. Teachers will recommend the best replacement class for you. Sorry no fee credits available for missed lessons.
BAL Ballet/Tap/Jazz, RAD Ballet & all hip hop exam entries need to be given to us at the end of this term, so please budget for this. The BAL & RBM exams will most likely be mid-August after the JDNZ exams.
The Lyrical medal test and the Jazz Exam entries will also need to be given to us the first week of term two. The exams and assessments are 3rd – 7th of August. The exam dance competition day will be the 26th of July. This is for Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical & Ballet.
The Contemporary Exam will need to be paid by 31st of May and Ballet Assessments are due 10th May.
New Families to AWDA – Please note that exams and assessments are not compulsory to enter. If your child is continuing with dancing, we think it would be a very positive and valuable experience. Having a goal to aim for often improves the student’s work too. In most cases even if you do not wish for your child to sit an exam we would like her/him to go on to the next grade with the rest of the class after the exam season. Please note that once we have sent off exam entries we cannot give refunds.
Please be sure you fill in an enrolment form and if you have a medical condition we should be aware of e.g Asthma/epilepsy please fill in our new medical form at the office.
Please write down any change of address and/or phone number you may have had and give it to your teacher. If you wish to go on the email database and receive your newsletter via email please email a request at email@example.com.
Prize giving Photos – If you received an award last year there are photos in the kitchen outside Studio 2. Photos are $2 each and a great memento.
BALLET, JAZZ & HIP HOP – We will hold most of the exam rehearsals and extra lessons in the last week of school term (week 10) including the first weekend of the school holidays 28th June – 5th July, please be available over that time. If you are going away during this time please contact Kym firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP. If you wish to enter an exam / medal test please note it is compulsory to attend the exam rehearsal in order to sit the exam.
This year’s show will be 6-7 December.
There will be rehearsals in the week and weekend before, all at Avondale College this year.
MUSIC and SYLLABUS BOOKS – Now is the time to get your music and syllabus book and NOW is the time to start practicing. Do not leave the practice too late if you want to sit an exam, medal test or assessment this year!
